hahahah. was back from dc today. went to my granny house. was like long time never visit her, so took my time to do that today. my grans 88 by documental age, but 90 plus by actual age. thats cause when they sign for citizenship when singapore was on the road to independence, they didnt much reli care to put the right date. even her younger sister who knew her real birthday was already 90, how can my granny the elder sis be 88?? hahahah. so was like sitting ah n talking while watching tv, then i knew she was talking something. but i didnt much understand. than i heard something like japan. oh wow she was talking to me abt the japs occupation times. ok so i got interested and listened carefully. from what i heard from her, the japanese caught hold of the sembawang-then muttergate or smth. well theyve got to bow. if they dont, they'll get harsh scolding. once my grans forgot too, and was called and got a hell of a scolding. sometimes she said was quite funny when he called her and some friends as a whole gang just for not bowing. then she said smth like, japanese soldiers wearing car tyre rubbers soles tied with something i forgot, as thier freaking shoes. hahahahah. and they had not enough rice, cos rice and all good foods were taken away by the japs, leaving them with just a bit of rice, and keledek, ubi became their substitute staples. and she kept saying western ppl seen arnd too, but uncommon being asked to do general works in half naked. something like that, and at night they're all too scared to go out, and when the shoes of those jap passes by thier house, they'll be adrenaline pumped for that moment. and when the japan first attack them with bombs, my gran accidentally left my first aunt at the house, and they realise and when my great grandad went back, lucky my aunt was still arnd safe sitting beside the 'ambin' oblivious to the bombings arnd her. she's still alive otday, with granchildrens of her own. and my granny continued that, when japan finally surrender, they were rejoiced, cos it was 2 years of hell for them, even if they know america wasn't that good either. but they rejoiced. and that they had believe day n night the japs wud eventually lost, cos they were mad, japan were trying to take over our malay archipelago lands. yeah maybe to some of u, it doent mean a shit, but im thrilled to get first degree description sia. it had always been reading textbooks abt the ww2. but today seemed to be extraordinary for that first degree account. funny enough, my granny remembered those event happened 60 yrs ago, but doesnt seem to remember most things nowadays. a good evidence of the brain's good long term memory relapse. . |
